La
Vielle Ferme Rouge and blanc are
both excellent moderately priced wines
from the Chateau de Beaucastel of Provence,
France.
The red
or rouge is created with grapes grown
at the Cotes du Ventoux. A mountainous
region east of Orange, well known for
its high slopes and excellent wines.
A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mauvedre,
Carignan and Cinsault grapes, La Vielle
Ferme Rouge possesses a deep cherry red
hue with a rich and spicy fruit taste.
Well suited for Mediterranean or spicy
foods. Serve at 62 f / 17 c.
The white
or blanc is bright pale yellow with a
delicate balance and well defined aroma.
Grown at the Cotes du Luberon using Greache
Blanc, Bourboulenc, Ugni Blanc and Roussanne
grapes.
Best served cool, at or around 46 f / 8 c.
Gallo
Wines is riding a recent marketing trend
by peddling its own line of French produced
wines. The success of Click Wines Group's
French produced Fat Bastard did not go
unnoticed by Gallo, hence the introduction
of Red Bicyclette Merlot,
Syrah and Chardonnay. The whimsically
illustrated bottles of Red Bicyclette
are now available at Andy's. |
